About the Role
The Educational Advisor provides advisement to current and prospective students on a wide range of services for all programs and courses offered by the College. This role supports students in defining and reaching their educational goals, consistent with the College's mission and department philosophy.
Responsibilities
- Provides academic advising for students in College Credit, Vocational, and Adult Education programs.
- Offers comprehensive information and referrals to assist students with academic success decisions.
- Delivers accurate, up-to-date information on programs and services to prospective and enrolled students.
- Identifies and interprets student needs to the institution.
- Provides academic advisement on a one-on-one, small group, or large group basis.
- Assists FTIC, current, returning, and transfer students with advisement/registration paperwork.
- Refers students requiring career or personal counseling to professional counselors.
- Helps college credit students develop class schedules, verify prerequisites and test scores, and register.
- Provides transition services for students transferring to upper-division institutions or entering the job market.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of departmental or campus initiatives.
- Provides data for and assists with the development of the Annual Report.
- Attends staff meetings, strategic planning sessions, professional development, convocation, conferences, and institutional events.
- Answers telephone calls promptly and courteously, providing accurate information or referrals.
- Supports the institution in creating a positive learning environment for all students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
- One year of experience working with students in an educational setting or related experience.
Qualifications
- Experience in a counseling and advising environment.
- Bilingual communication skills.
- Knowledge of enterprise-wide student information systems.
- Strong service excellence, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and data interpretation.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment with good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to use multiple modes of contact (face-to-face, electronic, telephone) to serve student needs.

Work Environment
This is an inside, office-based position.
Pay
Starting salary of $43,614, commensurate with education and experience exceeding the required qualifications.
