About the Role
Responsible for the management of the Academics and Career Technical Training functions. Provides oversight of student academic and career technical training programs to ensure student progress, achievement, and completion of the Job Corps program. Provides students with industry-recognized training and credentials leading to full-time jobs, higher education, or advanced training. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and manages the Education & Training Department staff.
- Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures to prevent manipulation of student data.
- Provides students with educational and career technical training leading to academic and career technical training completions.
- Delivers comprehensive and individualized case management to ensure student progress, achievement, and completion of the Job Corps program.
- Ensures the Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.
- Ensures high-quality academic and career technical training programming and instruction.
- Maintains an organized, clean, safe, and conducive learning environment.
- Motivates, empowers, and holds staff accountable for producing quality work, including developing staff for career progression and disciplining underperforming staff.
- Fills staff vacancies promptly and handles interviewing, hiring recommendations, discipline, termination recommendations, and performance evaluations for the Academic and Career Technical Training Department.
- Provides required and supplemental training for new and current employees.
- Creates a supportive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments, and addresses performance concerns proactively.
- Develops community linkages for education, employment, Career Technical Training, and Work-Based Learning (WBL).
- Promotes a positive image of the Center and Job Corps and builds relationships with elected officials.
- Mentors, monitors, and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
- Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population, taking swift and appropriate action to influence student behavior positively.
- Shows respect and courtesy to students while holding them accountable for their actions and behavior.
- Ensures quality programs and services for students, pursuing continuous improvement and enhancement.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, contributing meaningfully to group efforts.
- Provides quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
- Identifies problems, analyzes causes, and evaluates solutions before taking action, ensuring follow-up to confirm problems are resolved.
- Collaborates with staff from all departments to ensure effective supervision and services for students.
- Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school required; Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of two years of experience in teaching or a related field required.
- A valid in-state teaching certificate preferred.
- Job Corps or related program experience preferred.
