About the role
The Office of the General Counsel's Construction Industry Licensing Board Legal Unit seeks an entry-level Staff Assistant to provide administrative support to the Lead Assistant, assigned attorneys, and chief attorney.
Responsibilities
- Updates document and case management systems.
- Scans and profiles documents.
- Prepares legal correspondence as necessary.
- Receives and routes incoming mail.
- Routes legal documents to Agency Clerk for filing.
- Prepares packages for mailing.
- Receives and routes telephone calls and assists callers with inquiries pertaining to case status.
- Serves as a back-up receptionist for the Office of the General Counsel’s main switchboard.
- Performs other related duties as necessary.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year of work experience as a staff assistant, administrative assistant, or legal assistant.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of basic office equipment such as copier, fax, and multi-line telephones.
- Knowledge of office procedures and techniques.
- Knowledge of methods of data collection, basic arithmetic.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
