About the role

The Professional Development Unit at the Haring Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary, Education Specialist to join their team. This is an 11-month position beginning August 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner Relationship Management: 30%
    Build strong relationships with Partners (e.g., teachers, teaching teams, leaders) by acting as a trusted mentor and coach.
    Maintain regular communication with Partners.
    Work with Partners to identify a support approach, scope of work and proposals (with support from the Haring Center (HC) team), based on Partner’s goals, the Inclusion Framework and evidence-based best practices.

  • Education Specialist: 30%
    Build relationships with HC Professional Development Team and larger HC community, including the Experimental Education Unit and Research teams.
    Collaborate with the Partner and PD Team and to create Professional Development Plans, including scope, goals, communication cadence and metrics of the professional development to be delivered to Partners.
    Maintain frequent contact with Partner and PD Team to ensure the Professional Development Plan is being followed, progress is being made and adjustments are made if needed.
    Develop and lead professional development trainings on topics related to inclusion and equity in Spanish, in person and virtually.
    Monitor ongoing fidelity and quality of the professional development provided on contracts (Fidelity: did we do what we said we were going to do, Quality: was the Partner satisfied and did we make progress on our goals).

  • Contract Delivery: 20%
    Build relationships with teachers and staff to provide on-site coaching, training, and technical assistance on inclusive and equitable practices based on the professional development plan.
    Create coaching goals and action plans for individual teachers or teaching teams as outlined in the contract and PD Plan.
    Coordinate scheduling coaching visits and meetings with partner sites.
    Provide Practice Based Coaching.
    Facilitate workshops and trainings in Spanish.
    Work with HC PD Team and Partner to monitor PD plan and adjustments.
    Provide deliverables based on contract requirements, including facilitating virtual trainings held in the evenings.

  • Non-contract Work: 20%
    Develop and/or deliver trainings sponsored by the Haring Center.
    Attend Haring Center Professional Development and Training Team meetings as required.
    Provide documentation based on professional development and HC expectations.
    Follow all HC PD Team policies and procedures for billing and project reviews.
    Support the creation, development and implementation of PDU processes, roles and responsibilities definition and organizational structure changes as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or early childhood education and minimum of 3 years working with children in a group setting.
  • STARS certified trainer.
  • Experience as education coach, consultant, mentor and trainer.
  • Experience in early intervention, early childhood education, special education.
  • Experience facilitating virtual trainings.
