Job Description
The Education Specialist at Tennessee Oncology is responsible for developing and implementing education plans, teaching clinical programs, and evaluating performance. They also facilitate role development and training, collaborate with various departments, and stay updated with education trends.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement a comprehensive education plan for team members and providers
- Teach and organize classroom and clinical education programs
- Coordinate and participate in new hire and annual competency evaluations
- Maintain competency in technical skills and theoretical knowledge
- Facilitate role development and ongoing education for clinical preceptors
- Act as a mentor, resource, and preceptor for new hires
- Collaborate with providers, staff, and leadership to develop education plans and materials
- Create and provide training for new or revised equipment, protocols, procedures, policies, and healthcare content
- Act as a resource and liaison with other departments to improve education processes
- Monitor clinical outcomes to identify trends and complete necessary training
- Maintain specialty expertise through professional and educational association membership

- Ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate, and direct training activities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently and provide developmental feedback

- Proficiency in computer skills
Education & Experience
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing OR Associate Degree in Nursing with 3 years of relevant experience
- Recent experience with staff health care education
- Certification in the specialty area within 6 months of meeting certification requirements
- Chemotherapy Certification within 3 months of meeting certification requirements
Physical Requirements
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be willing and able to travel to satellite clinics
