Education Specialist, NICU

About the role
This position is for a Masters-prepared RN or a nurse who has completed half of the requirements towards a Master's degree. The nurse consults and collaborates with Clinical Practice and Advanced Education Specialist IIs and the manager of Clinical Education to evaluate clinical practice trends and develop education to impact patient outcomes within defined clinical areas at the Prosper campus.
This RN collaborates with Quality and Risk, department leadership teams, and shared governance councils to develop ongoing education and competency validation opportunities that promote excellent patient care and outcomes. The role contributes to project and program management teams focused on education for quality improvement initiatives, risk reduction, patient safety initiatives, and the implementation of evidence-based practices at the bedside.
This RN possesses outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills, holds staff accountable while building and fostering relationships, and promotes nursing professional development.
Responsibilities
- Consult and collaborate with Clinical Practice and Advanced Education Specialist IIs and the manager of Clinical Education.
- Evaluate clinical practice trends and develop education to impact patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with Quality and Risk, department leadership, and shared governance councils to create education and competency validation opportunities.
- Contribute to project and program management teams focused on education for quality improvement, risk reduction, patient safety, and evidence-based practices.
- Hold staff accountable while fostering professional relationships and promoting nursing professional development.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years pediatric clinical experience required, with pediatric intensive care experience strongly preferred.
- NICU Level III experience required.
- Two (2) years prior teaching experience; curriculum development experience strongly preferred.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- RN planner for continuing education credit strongly preferred.
- BSN required.
- Enrolled in a Graduate Program for a Degree in Nursing, Education, or related field with at least half of program requirements complete. Must graduate within two (2) years of position start date.
Qualifications
- BLS certification required.
- PALS certification required (Instructor status strongly preferred).
- Texas RN license.
