Summary of Essential Functions
- Cook up academic lesson plans with children, families, and schools
- Make sure the School District of Philadelphia Curriculum is implemented effectively with each client, including one hour of group instruction per day covering math, language arts, science, art, and more
- Get IEPs, 504b plans, and schoolwork from individual schools within five days of admission to tailor instruction to each child's needs
- Figure out each child’s reading and ability levels within the first five days of admission
- Write at least two notes about each child within twenty days of admission
- Keep track of outcome measures (how the child is progressing or facing challenges) throughout the academic period
- Go to classroom meetings twice a month per classroom and all team meetings
- Participate in mandatory trainings at CCTC and those required for continuing certification in Elementary Education, including Professional Development Day training provided by the School District of Philadelphia
- Start using the Sanctuary Model immediately with clients, families, and staff, and keep monitoring its use in the Acute Partial Program to maintain it effectively
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in Special/Elementary Education or Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Intern Certificate in Special/Elementary Education
- At least one year’s experience teaching children in grades K through 8th
- Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are needed
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) applicants are strongly encouraged to apply
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and handling office equipment (faxes, copiers, scanners) is required
- A working knowledge of ECR systems is beneficial
