Education Senior Counsel

About the role

Husch Blackwell LLP is a national law firm with multiple locations across the United States. We have an immediate opening for an Education Senior Counsel. We will consider candidates for any of our offices including our virtual office, The Link.

Responsibilities

• Advise private, religious, and public educational institutions of all levels (with a particular focus on K-12) and educational service providers in all aspects of advising on education regulatory landscapes, operational challenges, and employment law
• Handle state and federal government filed complaints
• Provide education regulatory advising for schools opening across the country, including guidance on state-specific licensing, accreditation, and operational compliance requirements
• Articulate legal strategies and courses of action
• Effectively handle multiple projects

Qualifications

• At least eight years of experience preferred
• Active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which you are applying or commit to obtaining one as soon as possible
• Excellent academic credentials
• Superior interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated record of working well under pressure
• Exceptional judgment
• Excellent communication and writing abilities

Preferred experience

• Familiarity with FERPA, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, EPA, ADA, Section 504, IDEA, and ADEA

Pay

$250,000-$325,000 for California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Vermont, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salaries in all other markets will vary depending on market data.
