Education Senior Counsel
Husch Blackwell LLP is a national law firm with multiple locations across the United States, dedicated to our clients and the industries they serve. We have an immediate opening for an Education Senior Counsel in any of our offices, including our virtual office, The Link.
About the role
The successful candidate will advise private, religious, and public educational institutions of all levels (with a particular focus on K-12) and educational service providers on education regulatory landscapes, operational challenges, and employment law. Experience handling state and federal government-filed complaints and familiarity with FERPA, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, EPA, ADA, Section 504, IDEA, and ADEA is preferred. Highly valued is experience providing education regulatory advising for schools opening across the country, including guidance on state-specific licensing, accreditation, and operational compliance requirements.
Requirements
- At least eight years of relevant experience
- Active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which you are applying, or commitment to obtain one as soon as possible
- Excellent academic credentials
- Demonstrated record of working well under pressure
- Exceptional judgment and ability to effectively handle multiple projects
- Superior interpersonal, communication, and writing abilities
- Ability to articulate legal strategies and courses of action
- Commitment to the community

Pay
Pursuant to applicable state laws, the compensation range for this position is:
- $250,000–$325,000 in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Vermont, commensurate with qualifications and experience
- Salaries in all other markets will vary depending on market data
