Education Senior Counsel
About the role
Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking an Education Senior Counsel with at least eight years of experience, preferably in multiple offices including the virtual office, The Link. The ideal candidate will advise private, religious, and public educational institutions and educational service providers on education regulatory landscapes, operational challenges, and employment law.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience advising private, religious, and public educational institutions of all levels (with a particular focus on K-12)
- Handling state and federal government filed complaints
- Familiarity with FERPA, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, EPA, ADA, Section 504, IDEA, and ADEA
- Guidance on state-specific licensing, accreditation, and operational compliance requirements for schools opening across the country
Requirements
- Experience in education regulatory advising for schools opening across the country
- Excellent academic credentials
- A commitment to the community
- Superior interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated record of working well under pressure
- Exceptional judgment, ability to handle multiple projects, excellent communication and writing abilities, and articulating legal strategies and courses of action
- An active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which they are applying or commitment to obtaining one as soon as possible

Husch Blackwell LLP offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and much more. Pursuant to applicable state laws, the compensation range for this position in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Vermont is $250,000-$325,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salaries in all other markets will vary depending on market data.
Pay
Pursuant to applicable state laws, the compensation range for this position in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Vermont is $250,000-$325,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salaries in all other markets will vary depending on market data.
