About the role
Husch Blackwell LLP is a national law firm with multiple locations across the United States, dedicated to our clients and the industries they serve. We have an immediate opening for an Education Senior Counsel with at least eight years of experience preferred. We will consider candidates for any of our offices including our virtual office, The Link. This is not a partnership-track position.
Responsibilities
- Advise private, religious, and public educational institutions of all levels (with a particular focus on K-12) and educational service providers in all aspects of advising on education regulatory landscapes, operational challenges, and employment law.
- Handle state and federal government filed complaints.
- Provide education regulatory advising for schools opening across the country, including guidance on state-specific licensing, accreditation, and operational compliance requirements.
- Articulate legal strategies and courses of action.
- Effectively handle multiple projects under pressure.
Requirements
- At least eight years of experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience advising private, religious, and public educational institutions of all levels (with a particular focus on K-12) and educational service providers in all aspects of advising on education regulatory landscapes, operational challenges, and employment law.
- Previous experience in handling state and federal government filed complaints.
- Familiarity with FERPA, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, EPA, ADA, Section 504, IDEA, and ADEA is preferred.
- Experience providing education regulatory advising for schools opening across the country, including guidance on state-specific licensing, accreditation, and operational compliance requirements, is highly valued.

Pay
Pursuant to applicable state laws, the compensation range for this position in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Vermont is $250,000-$325,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salaries in all other markets will vary depending on market data.
