Education Senior Counsel
About the role
Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking an Education Senior Counsel with at least eight years of experience, preferably in multiple locations including their virtual office, The Link.
Responsibilities
- Advising private, religious, and public educational institutions of all levels (with a particular focus on K-12) and educational service providers in all aspects of advising on education regulatory landscapes, operational challenges, and employment law.
- Handling state and federal government filed complaints, with a focus on FERPA, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, EPA, ADA, Section 504, IDEA, and ADEA.
- Providing education regulatory advising for schools opening across the country, including guidance on state-specific licensing, accreditation, and operational compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience advising private, religious, and public educational institutions of all levels (with a particular focus on K-12) and educational service providers.
- Previous experience in handling state and federal government filed complaints, with a focus on FERPA, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, EPA, ADA, Section 504, IDEA, and ADEA.
- Experience providing education regulatory advising for schools opening across the country, including guidance on state-specific licensing, accreditation, and operational compliance requirements.
- Excellent academic credentials, a commitment to the community, superior interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated record of working well under pressure.
- Exceptional judgment, the ability to effectively handle multiple projects, excellent communication and writing abilities, and the ability to articulate legal strategies and courses of action.
- An active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which they are applying or commit to obtaining one as soon as possible.

Pay
Pursuant to applicable state laws, the compensation range for this position in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Vermont is $250,000-$325,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salaries in all other markets will vary depending on market data.
