EDUCATION PROGRAM SUPERVISOR (Job ID 52846)

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and evaluates statewide Public Affairs education programming in alignment with direction from the Department leadership, by integrating the national missions and strategic plans, as determined by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (the departments primary partner in the federally funded education programs), and the Department of Fish and Game.
• Supervises and coordinates program delivery and outcomes in accordance with programmatic policies, procedures, and standards.
• Recruits, interviews, recommends hiring, and exercises direct supervision over Public Affairs Education Unit personnel; with responsibility for oversight of operations, budgetary needs, assessment of training needs, work assignments, developing work methods, problem-solving, and measurement of work outcomes.
• Carrries out performance evaluations, carries out disciplinary actions, and provides supervisory recommendations regarding employee role progression, advancements, and other personnel actions for professional and support employees in the Unit.
• Serves as project leader for, reviews, revises, and prepares Aquatic Education and Hunter Education grant proposals, including Federal aid in Sport Fish and Wildlife Restoration Funds using research, public input and agency review to evaluate program effectiveness; submits required annual reports to Federal Aid in Sport Fish and Wildlife Restoration.
• Provides evaluation data for Recruitment and Retention and Outreach Grants; and seeks additional grant opportunities while managing all reporting, compliance, and documentation requirements.
• Tracks, monitors, and proposes biennial budgets for the Public Affairs Education Unit.
• Reviews and write contracts as necessary for vendors that may be hired for research, construction, programming assistance, or other services as needed.
• Maintains legislative oversight by monitoring legislative bills, reviewing and recommending rules under RSA 541-A, 214:23-a, 214:23-b, 214:23-c, that may impact the Education Unit programs.
• Represents the department at conferences, national, statewide, and/or interdepartmental meetings, and committees in order to maintain best practices and standards for the Public Affairs Education Unit.
• Supports the Department Wildlife Action Plan by working in partnership with the State Wildlife Action Plan Implementation Team to incorporate identified education-based priorities into conservation education programs.
• Develops and maintains partnerships with conservation organizations to advance conservation education objectives in the state to include education about fish and wildlife habitat, wildlife management concepts, and connecting people with nature.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 4.5 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 8.5 years of education and experience after competition of high school.
• Education and experience must be in environmental conservation, natural resources management, recreational management, program administration or related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management level position.
• Valid Drivers License.
• Must attain NH Fishing and Hunting license within 12 months of hire.
