Education Director (Vice Principal) - Elementary/Middle School

The Katherine Thomas School, a Program of TLC-The Treatment and Learning Centers in Rockville, is recognized in the community as a leading, cutting-edge school that has been serving the community for over 25 years providing educational services to students with special needs. The school seeks to hire a full-time Lower/Middle School Education Director to start with the 2026/2027 school year. This is a 12‑month position.

Responsibilities

• Development, implementation, and supervision of the educational programs, in collaboration with the Lower/Middle School Director
• Supervising instructional teams
• Overseeing implementation of IEPs
• Developing student schedules
• Supporting students, staff, and families
• Ensuring compliance with MSDE requirements

Requirements

• Maryland Special Education Teaching Certification
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Valid professional certificate/license as a special education supervisor or special education principal, OR a valid professional teaching certificate or license in special education
• Master's degree in special education
• MSDE special educator licensure
• Experience working in a setting focused on language‑based learning disabilities for students in grades K‑8
• Understanding of the needs of early childhood school students and knowledge of curriculum for this grade level
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and collaboration with the school community
• Ability to enhance teaching and learning through curriculum assessment and strategic planning for all learners

Pay

Salary range: $90,000 to $115,000, based on experience and education.

Schedule

Full‑time, 12‑month position.
