Education Associate 2 (HIT Program Southeast Region Coordinator - PCN 112222)
About the role
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting for an Education Associate 2 (HIT Program Southeast Region Coordinator) located in Douglas, Alaska.
Responsibilities
- Supporting volunteer instructors to deliver public hunter education, bowhunter education, muzzleloader education, and crossbow education courses.
- Recruiting, training, coordinating, and evaluating instructors as well as assisting the HIT Program Coordinator with the development of course materials.
- Providing teaching and administrative supplies to the volunteer instructors and maintaining contact with certification course students.
- Acting as the first line of public contact for inquiries regarding the various certification classes, clinics, and activities offered by the HIT Program.
- Assisting with the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW), and other shooting sports clinics/classes.
- Occasionally teaches certification classes.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of firearms and ammunition, firearms safety, and hunting practices and culture.
- Ability to establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with other agency staff, volunteers, and the community.
- Good planning and organizational skills are required, as well as strong public speaking and writing skills.
- Ability to multi-task effectively and coordinate multiple program components and support activities.
- Ability to work irregular schedules, including some weekends, evenings, and overnight stays.

Pay
The wage for this position increased by 3% effective July 1, 2026. The wage listed in this job posting reflects the increase.
Schedule
This position is based in the Douglas ADF&G regional office and will also spend a fair amount of time at the Juneau Hunter Education Shooting Complex. The Education Associate II will be in contact daily with the public, HIT Program volunteer instructors, and ADF&G regional staff. They will also be in regular contact with other HIT Program staff and will assist with providing hunter education at local schools and other Southeast communities. The work schedule can be irregular, including some evenings and weekends. Requires travel within the state.
