About the role

Join the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum team and help inspire curiosity and a love of science through engaging educational experiences. As the Education Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the museum's educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Clock in and out daily, maintaining accurate time records
  • Coordinate scheduling for school programs, outreach events, webcasts, and museum educators
  • Communicate with schools and patrons to arrange programs and provide confirmations
  • Manage student employee schedules and coordinate educator assignments
  • Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate BYU student museum educators
  • Aid in developing and updating educational programs and curriculum-based content
  • Track program statistics, prepare reports, invoices, and expense documentation
  • Support museum committees and contribute to exhibit and education initiatives
  • Update the museum website, social media, and email communications
  • Maintain and oversee the education loan collection and related inventory
  • Support early morning meetings on Wednesdays at 6:30 AM

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Bachelor’s degree in the life sciences, education or museum science OR 4 years of experience in a museum-related or science-related field
  • Master’s degree in life sciences, education or museum studies preferred

Typical Starting Pay

$22.50 to $29.25 an hour
