About the role
USU Extension in Salt Lake County is hiring Part-time Education Assistants to play a key role in ensuring a safe, engaging, and well-managed environment for children participating in our evening educational events. Individuals in this position will be responsible for working with children ranging in age from 0-11.
Responsibilities
- Supervise children during evening workshops in a safe and welcoming environment
- Lead age-appropriate activities (games, crafts, quiet play, etc.) with children
- Ensure children are signed in/out according to program procedures
- Respond appropriately to children’s needs, behaviors, and safety concerns
- Support workshop facilitators with leading educational activities
- Assist with maintaining an organized, respectful, and distraction-free environment
- Support transitions (arrival, activity changes, dismissal)
- Reinforce workshop expectations and behavioral guidelines
- Prepare and organize materials for children’s activities
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians at drop-off and pick-up
- Follow all program policies related to safety, confidentiality, and conduct
- Report any incidents or concerns to program staff
Qualifications
- Reliable access to transportation to and from work sites
- Availability to work in the evenings during the school year
- Experience working with children (babysitting, teaching, childcare, or similar) is preferred
