About the role

The Educare Teacher provides care, supervision, and developmental support while planning and implementing organized activities, smooth transitions, and developmentally appropriate curriculum across all learning domains. This role mentors and trains staff on teaching strategies, behavior guidance, and classroom management, maintains a safe, clean, and engaging environment, and leads clear communication with families. The Educare Teacher also supports child transitions and partners with management on individual child needs and behavior concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children while providing care and support, including hygiene, learning, and developmental activities, specialized programs, and redirection.
  • Promote positive child interactions and plan and implement organized activities and smooth transitions.
  • Train and ensure employees provide quality transitions.
  • Develop and oversee weekly curriculum in the following areas: Physical, Cognitive, Social, Language, and Cultural/Gender appropriate.
  • Oversee daily preparation of the environment to provide developmentally appropriate activities and ensure activities meet learning objectives.
  • Use and mentor employees on a variety of teaching strategies to enhance children’s learning and development, ensuring the classroom environment is appropriate.
  • Oversee written communications to families, ensuring appropriate language and format is used, and pass on information or concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Complete biannual family conferences and informal conferences as needed, overseeing employees in filling out forms correctly and developing goals with families on individual child needs.
  • Work with Manager on developmental transitions of children and ensure families, employees, and the environment are kept up to date with information on new children.
  • Maintain awareness of each child’s individual file and communicate information to other employees.
  • Keep the work environment safe for children and employees, maintain classroom records, cleanliness, and orderliness, and ensure equipment is sanitized regularly.
  • Remain calm and patient with children, follow through on conveying accurate information to families, and work with the Manager on any behavior concerns.
  • Use and mentor on Playworks behavior guide techniques.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must meet qualification and experience requirements from the MN Rule 3 guidelines for Teacher category.
  • Three or more years of experience in an early childhood educational program and leadership skills.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required.
  • Pass background check, work physical, and drug test.
  • Valid Class D driver’s license may be required with a good driving record.
  • Ability to move in a variety of motions including bending, squatting, crawling, kneeling, twisting, pulling, and/or pushing.
  • Capacity to handle and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Physical ability to perform required job duties with or without accommodations, including being on feet 80% of the time.
