EDM Specialist

Plan, lay out, and perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter, and repair intricately designed tools, dies, fixtures, molds, gauges, machine attachments, and mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Program, operate, and maintain wire & conventional EDM equipment.
• Lay out work and plan machining and bench procedures.
• Train lower-skilled tool makers on operations and procedures.
• Perform difficult machining operations requiring complicated setups, including improvising tooling and machines for adaptations beyond the normal range and capacities of available equipment.
• Perform critical bench and assembly operations to fit, align, adjust, assemble, and finish work.

Requirements

• Completion of a state-qualified apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience with general education including verbal and written communication and technical math.
• Ability to perform difficult/technical calculations with decimals and fractions.
• Proficiency in using and interpreting a wide variety of precision measuring instruments for exacting measurements.
• Ability to work from complicated drawings and specifications.
• Consistently demonstrate a high degree of skill and extensive knowledge of tooling practices and applications.
• Set up, adjust, and operate machine shop equipment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively train, guide, and support others.
• Ability to organize workflow and set priorities in accordance with established procedures and daily instructions.

Qualifications

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, and climb.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. frequently and 75-100 lbs. occasionally.
• Repetitive use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
• Excellent vision and depth perception.
