Editorial & Office Coordinator - Adventist Review
Position Summary
Evaluates potential manuscripts and is involved in the workflow process for Adventist Review publications. Serves as main point of contact with authors regarding manuscripts, biographies, and agreements. Communicates editorial decisions and manages Adventist Review databases.
Compensation
Full-time hourly position with benefits
Remuneration: Grade 6 ($25.86 - $36.90)
Benefits: Hourly employees are eligible for benefits including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement savings plans, with eligibility based on hours worked.

Essential Job Functions

Counsults with global partners to include sending translated files, Week of Prayer files, Adventist Review Digest, and monthly issue documents for translation

Maintains author, manuscript, and publication agreement databases

Sends acceptance and rejection notifications after manuscript review

Maintains communication with global partners to include sending translated files, Week of Prayer files, Adventist Review Digest, and monthly issue documents for translation

Manages manuscript workflow through Monday.com

Inputs metadata into online news and articles (news has a daily cadence)

Flows in articles for print into inCopy

Proofreads print issue

Collects author biographies and Form W-9s

Calculates author remuneration

Maintains string files for print magazine

Mails complimentary issue copies to authors

Provides event support by staffing the Adventist Review booth as needed

Participates in Editorial Committee

Schedules and coordinates all staff, board, worship, and division meetings

Records, distributes, and archives minutes

Administers the office calendar, filing cabinets, mailboxes, and supplies

Handles office correspondence, including letters, emails, and phone calls

Maintains and updates subscription databases across the web portal and internal files

Reports on subscription activity, including renewals, cancellations, and updates

Maintains mailing lists
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree with applicable coursework in journalism.

Appropriate successful work experience may be acceptable in lieu of scholastic requirement.

Three to four years of relevant, progressive work experience are needed to gain the skills and knowledge required to perform job duties.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-
Knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the General Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Accurate English language usage including proficiency in spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc., and writing and proofreading skills are essential.

Must have well-developed skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe, Wordpress, Monday.com, SharePoint, and InCopy.

Editorial aptitude, accuracy, writing skills, efficiency in general office duties also required.
