Editor/Writer II - PR & Marketing - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

About the role

The Editor/Writer II is responsible for producing a wide range of communications to advance the strategic marketing initiatives of Keck Medicine of USC. This individual collaborates with other marketing department members and works with Keck Medicine employees and non-Keck Medicine stakeholders to create marketing content aligned with the department's strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Write and edit editorial content for Keck Medicine of USC, such as blog articles, patient stories, magazine articles, and bios.
• Research, verify, read, proof, edit and rewrite copy. Ensure accuracy and completeness of projects.
• Interview sources when appropriate.
• Use the department’s tools to conduct strategic analysis and background research, and to develop effective content topics and outputs.
• Create multimedia content using the department’s software platforms to be distributed by the social media team.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or related field
• Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
• 3 years minimum experience, 5 years preferred
• Experience with creating, writing, editing, proofreading, and preparing materials for publication
• Proven ability as a self-starter and problem-solver who evaluates situations, articulates possible solutions, and earns the respect of others by carefully listening and presenting productive responses
• Proficiency in Word Office Suite
• Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Mastery of AP Stylebook writing guides

• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City)

The hourly rate range for this position is $33.00 - $54.22.
