About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Editor-in-Chief/Deputy Editor to join Wiley's Advanced team, serving as Editor-in-Chief of an Advanced cross-disciplinary title in medicine. The Editor-in-Chief would also serve as Deputy Editor for other Advanced titles, within their own areas of expertise.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives to grow Wiley's Advanced Portfolio within medicine globally.
- Commission high-quality papers and build collaborative relationships with leading researchers through community engagement to enhance content quality and brand influence.
- Take ownership of the peer review process, and decision manuscripts, to ensure the highest possible editorial standards.
- Collaborate with the global editorial team to manage manuscripts submitted from related Advanced titles.
- Launch and oversee management of new Advanced spin-off titles in relevant subject areas as the brand expands.
- Manage titles within a team of in-house editors and involvement in medical cluster strategies.
- Collaborate closely with marketing teams to devise and implement brand-enhancing events and initiatives for both short-term and long-term success.
- Lead generation and ideas for subject-related products passed on to appropriate colleagues.
Requirements
- PhD in any medical specialty. Post-doctoral and clinical experience would be preferred.
- Demonstrated commissioning experience including identifying priority topics, approaching prospective authors, agreeing outlines/timelines, and guiding authors through to submission.
- Manuscript handling experience (including prescreening, peer review, final decision, appeals and integrity cases).
- Subject-Matter Expertise (academic).
- Strong global network within research communities and proven track record of engaging with top-tier research talents.
- Displays high integrity and honesty.
- Mindset with ability to identify opportunities and convert strategic visions into actionable plans.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Loves to travel (internationally).
Qualifications

- Experience in academic publishing and/or editorial leadership.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in academic publishing.

Pay
Salary Range: $62,400 USD to $91,533 USD
Schedule
Full-time position.
