The position assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations, and treatments, performs a variety of technical and patient‑care duties under RN supervision, and carries out essential functions of the Unit Secretary.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the RN and physician with assessments, examinations, and treatments.
  • Document patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care, observations, and specimen collection.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies to ensure readiness for the position.
  • Support cost containment by ordering and conserving supplies and equipment appropriately.
  • Prioritize patient care and department needs, set goals, and organize time to meet daily nursing demands.
  • Observe, document, and report patient condition changes to the RN or provider.
  • Provide patient and family education within scope of practice.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent (required).
  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience (preferred).
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification (preferred).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy (required).
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA), or Paramedic certification (preferred).
  • Phlebotomist Technician license (preferred).
  • Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM or TEAM‑A) certification (required).

Adventist Health requires all associates to receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment (with medical and religious exemptions where applicable) and participates in E‑Verify.

Pay

The estimated base pay for this position is $21.48 to $28.02 per hour. Additional individual compensation may be available through differentials, extra‑shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.

Schedule

Full‑time regular position in the Emergency Department, 12‑hour shift length.
