About the role
As an ED Technician at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, you will provide compassionate basic patient care and assist with daily living activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Your responsibilities include collecting data elements, communicating observations and information obtained using various methods and tools to the Registered Nurse (including but not limited to vital signs, surveillance of telemetry, performing EKGs, and glucose by finger stick). You will also improve the patient experience and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment.Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate basic patient care and assist with daily living activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Collect data elements and communicate observations and information obtained using various methods and tools to the Registered Nurse (including but not limited to vital signs, surveillance of telemetry, performing EKGs, and glucose by finger stick).
- Improve the patient experience and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment.
- Demonstrate teamwork and raise the bar for patient care.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association required PRIOR to start date
- At least one (1) year experience as an EKG Technician, Nursing Attendant, or equivalent
- Certification in one of the following required:
- EKG/Arrhythmia certificate
- Medical technician certificate
- EMT/Paramedic certificate
