About the role

Bon Secours is a faith-based and patient-focused organization dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of all people through exceptional patient care. The ED Tech position at Rappahannock General Hospital supports this mission by providing direct patient care under the guidance of a registered nurse or designated healthcare professional.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic patient care and tasks such as care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, assisting with mobility, performing lab draws, ECGs, basic wound care, and other unit-based specialty duties under the direction of an RN.
  • Completes patient rounding as assigned.
  • Provides 1:1 patient safety companion service as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns.
  • Provides high level customer service to all patients, patient's families, community providers, visitors, and employees.
  • Accurately documents patient care as applicable.
  • Participates in handoff reports of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs.
  • Performs delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
  • Collects data, completes patient screenings as applicable.
  • Promotes quality and safety by seeking to continually improve processes and systems to enhance patient care delivery.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, problem solve, and resolve conflict while working under considerable stress.
  • Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures.

Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED (required)

Licenses & Certifications: BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care), current certification for Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Medical Assisting (preferred)

Experience: Previous experience working as a Patient Care Tech, within a nursing support role, or previous healthcare experience, or second year nursing student from a Registered Nurse (RN) program (preferred)

Pay

Range: Minimum: $17.25 Maximum: $25.87
