ED TECH - CLINICAL SECRETARY

About the role

As our ED Tech, you will provide crucial support and direct patient care in the fast-paced Emergency Department, ensuring efficient operations and compassionate assistance during critical moments. You will expertly assist with patient admissions and discharges, perform vital signs and basic medical procedures, maintain a clean and organized environment, and meticulously document observations to support the nursing staff and physician team.

To be successful, you will demonstrate outstanding adaptability, strong communication skills, and a calm, proactive demeanor, contributing significantly to timely patient care and a smooth-running ED.

Responsibilities

• Consistently, accurately, and timely transcribe physician orders with 100% accuracy as the goal.
• Correctly transcribe orders in the EHR system and sign off orders per FHMC policy.
• Correctly transcribe orders during downtime procedures.
• Notify appropriate staff of medication and treatment orders.
• Place patient stickers on patient charts, fax orders to pharmacy, send charts to medical records after discharge, and add chart forms as needed.
• File chart forms, duplicate medical records as needed, order supplies, and initiate follow-through with maintenance requests.

Requirements

• Successful completion of Emergency Medical Technician program.
• Acute care and clinical secretary experience.
• Completion of approved Unit Clerk class or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR certification.
• Certified Nursing Assistant: CA CNA or Emergency Medical Technician: CA EMT or Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic: CA.
