About the role
This position assists physicians and registered nurses in providing technical care to patients. Duties include phlebotomy, transporting patients, monitoring vital signs, wound care, inserting Foley catheters, obtaining lab specimens, documenting patient information, processing charges, and facilitating communications.
Responsibilities
- Aids in providing technical care to patients
- Performs phlebotomy, transports patients, places patients on cardiac and vital sign monitors, performs wound care, inserts Foley catheters, and obtains lab specimens
- Documents information and communicates patient observations, concerns, and needs to registered nurses
- Processes daily patient charges through the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Collaborates with physicians to support patient care communications
- Coordinates and facilitates communications via phone, verbal, paging, electronic, fax, and EMS system
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment
- Maintains equipment and troubleshoots minor problems; arranges repairs for major malfunctions
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, including lifting and pushing/pulling, using proper technique
- Must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development over the life span and possess ability to assess patient needs
Requirements
- Licenses and certifications: Nurse Aide in good standing, EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, EMT-Paramedic, or Medical Assistant with BLS certification
- Education: High School Graduate
- Experience: Typically 1 year of experience

- Basic computer skills and ability to work with EHR
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with physicians, staff, patients, and families
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks
- High level of attention to detail
Skills
- Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span

Pay
$21.85 - $32.80 per hour
Schedule
Part time, Benefits eligible, 24 hours per week, 11:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Wednesdays and Fridays, every third holiday, every 4th weekend
