ED Registration Clerk
About the role
The primary functions of the ED Registration Clerk include registering patients for the ED department, responsible to the Registration Supervisor. Days: Monday through Friday, Hours: open 3:00 PM thru 10:00 PM, shift may vary.
Responsibilities
- Complete patient registrations and pre-registrations for Emergency Department.
- Check in patients, verifies and updates necessary information in the medical record.
- Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
- Aid patients with ambulatory difficulties.
- Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages, and provide information.
- Screens visitors and respond to routine requests for information.
- Collect patient payments and post to patient account.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Computer skills.
- Skilled in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
Qualifications
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Medical experience preferred, but not required.
