Overview
Piedmont Henry Emergency Department serves 75,000–90,000 visits per year. Licensed for 59 beds with a 3/4:1 patient-to-RN ratio. Level III trauma center. Fully Accredited Stroke Center. Recently added an 18-bed Cardiac Observation Unit that works closely with the ED.
Triage and assessment of patient complaint; medical screening exam by a qualified medical provider and treatment plan based on assessment; appropriate drug therapy; management of critically ill patients; patient discharge education.
Multidisciplinary team in the ED includes: ED MD, ED APP, ED RN, C-RN, Flow Coordinator, Unit Based Educator, RN, ED Paramedics, Patient Care Technicians, Radiology staff, Respiratory staff, Patient Experience and Patient Access.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall movement of patients through the ED in a safe and efficient manner
- Coordinate all patient care activities
- Liaison with the ED medical staff to ensure care is delivered in an efficient and safe manner
- Appropriately delegate the workload
- Serve as a role model for teamwork, leadership, and professionalism in the ED
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate from a nursing program required; Bachelor's Degree of Nursing preferred
- Work Experience: 1 year of Emergency Department experience as a registered nurse (RN) required; experience participating in and/or leading quality and process improvement projects required
- Licenses and Certifications: RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure required; BCLS - Basic Life Support required; ACLS required; PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support required; CEN - Certified Emergency Room Nurse preferred
