About the role

The International Seller Services (ISS) Economics team at Amazon is a dynamic group driving innovation and growth through sophisticated economic analysis and data-driven insights. Our mission is to transform how Amazon empowers millions of international sellers to succeed in the World Wide digital marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Develop econometric models using Amazon’s world-class data systems
  • Apply approaches from various skillsets such as applied macro/time series, applied micro, econometric theory, empirical IO, empirical health, labor, public economics, and more
  • Collaborate with senior management, business stakeholders, scientists, engineers, and economist leadership to solve key business problems across multiple areas including AWS, Kindle, Prime, inventory planning, international retail, third-party merchants, search, pricing, labor and employment planning, effective benefits (health, retirement, etc.), and more
  • Work in a fast-moving environment to solve business problems as a member of either a cross-functional team embedded within a business unit or a central science and economics organization
  • Contribute to the design of automated systems around the company
  • Lead the transformation of Amazon's seller services through work with Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI, while tackling fundamental questions about seller growth, marketplace dynamics, and operational efficiency
  • Transform complex economic challenges into actionable insights that drive real-world results

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD in economics or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of data analysis languages (e.g., R, Stata, Python, etc.) or other statistical software
  • Experience in a postdoctoral position, consulting position, government position, or academic research
  • Experience with SQL
