Economic Development Specialist

About the role

The City of Concord’s Economic Development & Base Reuse Department is seeking an Economic Development Specialist to support the City in enhancing its economic vitality.

Responsibilities

• Execute programs such as Shop Concord, Business Retention, and Business Attraction.
  • Design and implement e-gift card programs, social media spotlights, and business retention activities.
  • Assist with site selection and permitting processes for new and expanding businesses.
  • Aid in the implementation of the Economic Development Strategic Plan and track progress.
• Market and analyze market information.
  • Conduct research and prepare reports on employment, housing, industries, and finance.
  • Develop marketing strategies and present findings to stakeholders.
• Manage projects and contracts.
  • Administer contracts with consultants and monitor their performance.
  • Work with Planning, Current Development - Engineering, and Building Divisions to facilitate permit processing.
• Communicate with stakeholders.
  • Present findings to City Council, Planning Commission, and other committees.
  • Provide updates to the City's webmaster and Chamber of Commerce events.
• Secure funding and collaborate with external agencies.
  • Seek funding from State and Federal sources for economic development projects.
  • Act as a liaison with these agencies.

Requirements

• Considerable working knowledge of economic development programs and principles.
• Ability to manage project assignments, write clearly, and communicate effectively.
• Strong writing skills are highly desired.
• Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in economic development.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Planning, or related field.
• A California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record are required.
