About the Role
The Superior Court is conducting an internal, promotional-only recruitment to fill a Court Manager A Limited Term Assignment in the Pittsburg Branch – Civil Unit. The duration of this assignment is expected to be approximately 4 to 6 months. The person selected for this assignment will report to Cyndi Mlack, Court Administrator.
Responsibilities
- Planning, organizing and directing the work of subordinate clerical staff
- Participating in the selection and training of new employees
- Monitoring the performance of staff and reviewing completed work as necessary
- Participating in the development and implementation of operational programs and/or systems
- Reviewing procedures and forms for efficiency and effectiveness
- Preparing new procedures or making recommendations for changes
- Resolving problems and responding to questions and issues from judges, attorneys, fellow employees and the general public
- Filling in for other managers as necessary
Requirements
- A qualified candidate would typically possess education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, public administration, court or judicial administration or a related field, AND, Two years experience supervising or providing lead direction to subordinate staff, or two years of progressively responsible administrative or staff analyst experience. Experience in a court, legal or justice related agency is preferable. OR, A combination of education and experience that provides the candidate with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of a court manager.

Skills
- Knowledge in civil case processing which includes Small Claims and Unlawful Detainer cases and the ICMS application as it applies to civil case processing codes, notices and calendar preparation.
