About the role

The ECMO Program Manager is a Physician Assistant responsible for supporting the operational, quality, educational, and strategic goals of the Adult ECMO Program. Reporting directly to the Medical and Surgical Directors of the Adult ECMO Program, this individual will assist program leadership in coordinating multidisciplinary care, advancing quality initiatives, supporting educational efforts, and overseeing activities necessary to achieve and maintain the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) Platinum Center of Excellence designation. The ECMO Program Manager serves as a liaison across multidisciplinary teams and supports program growth, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Medical and Surgical Directors with oversight and strategic development of the Adult ECMO Program
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary ECMO care and communication among physicians, surgeons, intensivists, APPs, perfusionists, and nursing teams
  • Support development and implementation of ECMO protocols, workflows, and care pathways
  • Collaborate with the pediatrics/adult ECMO coordinator in all adult ECMO-related education initiatives and data management
  • Participate in program operations, planning, and committee activities
  • Lead quality and value-based initiatives supporting ELSO Platinum Center of Excellence goals
  • Track quality metrics and program outcomes
  • Coordinate morbidity and mortality reviews, case debriefings, and process improvement initiatives
  • Support ELSO registry participation and accreditation efforts
  • Lead and coordinate ECMO educational and simulation activities across multidisciplinary teams
  • Coordinate onboarding, credentialing, competency assessment, and ongoing education for clinicians, including PAs, fellows, surgeons, and intensivists
  • Develop educational materials and support training initiatives
  • Manage the ECMO database, including data entry, and ensure data integrity and accessibility
  • Coordinate ECMO-related data collection and submission
  • Manage database access and reporting
  • Support database-related quality improvement, research, and program analytics efforts

Education

Graduate from ARC-PA accredited program

Experience

  • Required: Minimum 1-year critical care experience, preferably CTICU/ECMO
  • Preferred: Experience with ECMO management and multidisciplinary critical care teams
  • Preferred: Experience with ELSO programs and Center of Excellence initiatives
  • Preferred: Experience in simulation, education, quality improvement, or database management

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current NYS PA license and NCCPA certification

Salary

$142,800.00 - $160,300.00
