About the Role

This role performs various modalities of cardiac ultrasound including transthoracic echo, stress echo, and assistance in transesophageal echo. It also involves preparing preliminary interpretation reports, handling billing procedures, transmitting studies, and covering satellite sites. The role requires advanced knowledge of pediatric echo and demonstrates a higher level of ability, performance, and competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiograms in accordance with lab standards while meeting daily volume expectations.
  • Respond to emergent exams in a timely manner.
  • Follow department workflows for reporting, billing, and standard daily performance.
  • Ensure patient care is provided in a clean, safe, quiet, and secure environment.
  • Provide excellent patient care to patients and families, maintaining courteous and confidential interactions in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to deliver developmental and age-appropriate care to patients.
  • Participate in staff meetings, research studies, quality assurance activities, and working groups.
  • Assist in obtaining institutional, divisional, and departmental initiatives and goals.
  • Help teach students, fellows, and new technicians.
  • Follow hospital and department-specific policies, procedures, and cost-control standards.
  • Travel to other locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED - Required

Experience

  • At least two (2) years of pediatric echocardiography experience - Required
  • At least five (5) years of pediatric echocardiography experience - Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer in Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS-PE) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - within 12 months - Required
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer in Adult Echocardiography (RDCS-AE) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - within 12 months - Required
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) - within 12 months - Required
  • Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) - within 12 months - Required

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of the principles of ultrasound physics and instrumentation of ultrasound systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  • Advanced knowledge of transthoracic echocardiography.
  • Advanced proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and digital reporting software.
  • Participation in national, international, or original research studies.
  • Ability to travel to multiple work locations.

Pay

Salary Range: $44.25 - $56.45 Hourly. Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If working part-time, pay will be adjusted accordingly. Factors such as skills and experience could result in an offer above the noted salary range.

SHIFT: Day (United States of America)

As a condition of employment, CHOP employees who work in patient care buildings or have patient-facing responsibilities must receive an annual influenza vaccine.
