Echocardiography Extern

Responsibilities

• Performs non-invasive routine and emergent adult cardiac ultrasound examinations; obtains history, explains procedure to patient, and uses good judgement in determining if additional images are necessary for proper diagnosis.
• Provides 2D and 3D echo studies; performs specialized non-invasive echo studies including stress echo, and contrast echo.
• Affords assistance to the physician in providing diagnostic and therapeutic testing/procedures in specialized and invasive cardiac procedures including TEE, TAVR, ASD closures, CABG’s, and ablations.
• Ensures proper maintenance and care of the equipment and supplies, including appropriate procedure, technique and documentation in the disinfection of machines, and probes for patient safety.
• Maintains accurate patient documentation, including the echo data management system.
• Maintains and develops professional skills and knowledge, and promotes continuous improvement of workplace practices.

Requirements

• HS Diploma/GED
• BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)
• REGISTERED CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER (RCS)
• Must be able to pass and obtain Cardiac Sonography national accreditations by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) within 12 months of beginning Echocardiography Extern Role.

Listed is the base hiring salary range offered for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to skills and experience. The salary range listed is just one component of the total rewards/compensation package offered to candidates.
