About the role
Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking an Echocardiographer to join the Non-Invasive Lab Team. This full-time position involves 8-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with call required. The unit has 5 rooms dedicated to echocardiograms.
The Echocardiographer will perform a variety of tests, including Echo and Stress Echo, Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE), and Doppler ultrasound. Work settings include the Cardiac Non-Invasive Lab, EP and Cath Lab, OR, ICU, and bedside patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform two-dimensional echocardiograms, Doppler echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, and exercise/pharmacological stress echocardiograms to evaluate heart and vessel abnormalities.
- Complete technologist reports in the structured report application.
- Provide leadership in departmental areas such as staffing schedules, accreditation, and staff education.
- Support Cardiac Operating Room Echocardiogram needs.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited echocardiography program or equivalent education in accordance with IAC Guidelines.
- At least one of the following certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer.
- Adult echocardiography registry (ARDMS, RDCS, or RCS) required within 12 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- At least 3 years of echocardiographer experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Cardiovascular Technology, or High School Diploma with equivalent echo tech experience.
