About the Role

The Echocardiography Diagnostic Technologist performs complete echocardiographic examinations including M-mode, two-dimensional, and Doppler Echocardiography on clinical and/or research patients. Assists Cardiologists, Fellows, or other appropriate personnel in performing transesophageal echocardiographic and stress echocardiographic examinations. May also assist in coordinating efficient patient flow, staff assignments, educational support, and highest quality procedures consistent with IAC standards for Echocardiography.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete echocardiographic examinations, including M-mode, two-dimensional, and Doppler Echocardiography.
  • Assist in transesophageal echocardiographic and stress echocardiographic examinations.
  • Coordinate efficient patient flow and staff assignments.
  • Maintain highest quality procedures consistent with IAC standards for Echocardiography.
  • Document patient information accurately from intake to archiving.
  • Use and maintain medical equipment effectively in patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a two-year echocardiography training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a cardiovascular technology program accredited by the CAAHEP.
  • Registration by a national certification organization such as the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of echocardiogram experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas and information.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of heart function monitoring, including detecting arrhythmias and recognizing emergency conditions.
  • Proficiency in cardiac testing using various equipment to examine heart function and anatomy.
  • Knowledge of echocardiogram principles and ability to perform cardiac ultrasound procedures.
  • Understanding of medical record-keeping processes.
  • Familiarity with common types of healthcare equipment and their use in patient care.

Pay

Salary range: $35.20 to $50.16 hourly. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications.
