About the role

Assists one or more Early Childhood teachers in the education, care, supervision, and instruction of pre-school aged children, in classrooms, common areas, and playgrounds at a center dedicated to pre-kindergarten children, and in the community. Maintains and prepares classroom and related environments, materials, and control of forms. Assists in developing play-oriented curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Supports teachers in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for children.
  • Assists in preparing and maintaining classroom materials and supplies.
  • Supervises children during class time and breaks, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Participates in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and lessons.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation as required by the program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • California Associate Teacher Permit (Referred by Federal Head Start as “Child Development Associate Credential”) or Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • CPR/First Aid certificate with pediatric endorsement.
  • NCLB Compliance (48 college units (semester) or pass the Paraeducator Proficiency Exam).
  • Proof of HS Graduation (High School Diploma, High School Transcripts or Equivalent (ex: GED)).

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of child development and early childhood education principles.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children and adults.
  • Proficient in using technology and educational software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.

Pay

$19.61 - $25.94 per hour in 9 annual steps. Salary placement is based on relevant experience.

7 hours/day; 5 days/week
