Paraeducator III - 6 hrs/day (Hillsdale)

Position Summary

Performs specialized instructional support to individuals and groups of Special Education or Severely Handicapped students. This position applies to those who have been trained and who are integrating significant para-professional health care services or behavior interventions with instructional support.

Responsibilities

• Supports students with special needs in a variety of instructional settings.
• Assists in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Provides direct instruction and intervention to enhance learning outcomes.
• Monitors student progress and reports to teachers and parents.
• Collaborates with other professionals to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 48 units of college credit hours that are degree eligible.
• One year of experience working with students with special needs in a classroom environment.
• Additional college coursework may substitute for some experience.
• Experience in an instruction support or health care environment may substitute for some post-secondary education.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Valid First-Aid card and CPR certificate.

Qualifications

• CPR/First Aid Certification (requires a valid First-Aid card and CPR certificate).
• NCLB Compliance (48 college units (semester) or pass the Paraeducator Proficiency Exam).
• Proof of HS Graduation - High School Diploma or High School Transcripts or equivalent (ex: GED).
• Resume (clear evidence of required experience).

Pay

$22.11 - $29.22 per hour in 9 annual steps. Salary placement is based on relevant experience.
