ECE Paraeducator - 4 hrs/day (Pacific Infant and Toddler Center)

Assists one or more Early Childhood teachers in the education, care, supervision, and instruction of pre-school aged children, in classrooms, common areas, and playgrounds at a center dedicated to pre-kindergarten children, and in the community. Maintains and prepares classroom and related environments, materials, and control of forms. Assists in developing play-oriented curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Early Childhood teachers with education, care, and supervision of pre-school aged children in classrooms, common areas, playgrounds, and community settings.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
  • 6 college units in Early Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field with emphasis on infant to pre-school age children.
  • 48 college credit units or passage of a competency assessment (e.g., Paraeducator Proficiency Exam).
  • CPR/First Aid certificate with pediatric endorsement.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience in a preschool age enrichment program or child care setting is preferred.

Pay

$19.61 - $25.94 per hour in 9 annual steps. Salary placement is based on relevant experience.

Schedule

4 hours/day; 5 days/week. 12-month work year.

  • NCLB Compliance documentation (48 college units or Paraeducator Proficiency Exam passage).
  • Resume (providing clear evidence of required experience).
