About the role
This role involves repairing, installing, replacing, and testing electrical circuits and equipment within an establishment. Duties include isolating defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using various testing instruments.
Responsibilities
- Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits and equipment.
- Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
- Perform duties using ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, and/or testing lamp.
- Replace faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.
- Inspect equipment and diagnose trouble.
- Dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures.
- Mount motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and complete circuits according to diagram specifications.
- Inspect completed work and ensure it conforms to local building and safety codes.
- Conduct all work in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.
- May participate on project teams as requested.
Qualifications
- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of mechanics, shop math, and machinery procedures.
- Ability to work within close tolerances of .001 to .003 inches.
- Ability to work from blueprints and/or sketches.
Skills and Knowledge

- Other Skills: Knowledge of mechanics, shop math, and machinery procedures. Ability to work within close tolerances of .001 to .003 inches. Ability to work from blueprints and/or sketches.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near and/or with moving mechanical parts.
- The employee has moderate risk of electric shock.
- The employee occasionally works near fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
