About the role
The IT Systems Engineer I for Engineering Applications supports day-to-day operations, user management, and system stability for Crane A&E Product Data Management (PDM) systems. This includes administering and maintaining PDM applications, creating and managing user accounts, permissions, and access requests, configuring project setups, templates, and workflow configurations, and customizing solutions on IBM Rational Tools/SolidWorks EPDM tools.
Responsibilities
- Ensure uptime of critical business systems and infrastructure by monitoring and remediating issues with critical applications.
- Create and manage user accounts, permissions and access requests.
- Configure project setups, templates, and basic workflow configurations, and customize solutions on IBM Rational Tools/SolidWorks EPDM to meet business and customer requirements, supporting process/workflow automation.
- Support data entry, requirement imports/exports and baseline creation.
- Maintain system health, escalating issues to senior engineers, troubleshooting user issues, and performing routine maintenance activities to maintain system effectiveness and efficiency.
- Prepare technical documents, action plans and other solution documents as needed.
- Support end-user training upon completion of software solutions.
- Support enhancements and tool upgrades, patches and environment migrations.
- Assist with deployments across dev, test and production environments.
- Provide on-demand COTS applications support by resolving service requests for purchase, installation, troubleshooting, or system access.
- Maintain organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing process/workflow automation.
Qualifications
- 0-2+ years of experience in administration, custom development, or system configuration of Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
- Basic knowledge of IBM Rational Suite tools such as EWM or DOORS, supporting requirements management and configuration management activities.
- Familiarity with programming or scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, or REST APIs, which are useful for customizing and automating PDM and related engineering processes.
- Basic knowledge of requirements management, software configuration management and change control.
