Early Reading Intervention Assistant (Full-time) School Year 26-27
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in planning, implementing, and assessing instructional programs for ERIA intervention purposes.
- Assign to work with multiple groups in various classrooms as determined by identified student needs.
- Ongoing professional development is an integral part of this position.
- Provide instruction and support with language arts objectives to small groups of K-3rd grade students.
- Participate in training sessions as required.
- Maintain accurate records of student data.
- Collaborate with teachers in both written and oral formats to share information regarding student achievement.
- Affords instruction and support to assist classroom teachers in providing direct instruction for students.
- Performs clerical work related to instructional activities such as maintaining files of student work, sorting, filing, and duplicating of instructional materials.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Job Requirements
- Requires an associate's degree or achievement of a qualifying score on the HCS IA Assessment test.
- Applicants possessing a Virginia License or eligible for Virginia License in K-3 preferred.
- Experience or education related to working with students in an instructional setting is preferred.
- General knowledge of basic reading and writing subject matter.
- Some knowledge of basic instructional strategies preferred.
- Some knowledge of basic child learning and development principles preferred.
- Ability to apply basic instructional concepts and subject matter in a classroom environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, faculty, and others.
- Ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and diverse levels of educational achievement and ability.
