About the Role

As a General Merchandise and Food Sales team member, you will lead inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This includes managing Food & Beverage and Food Service to provide a fresh and food-safe experience. You will also own pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work to enable efficient delivery to guests.

The Inbound team specializes in unloading trailer deliveries and preparing merchandise to be stocked on the sales floor.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly experience
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target’s guest experience commitments and operations
  • Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments
  • Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align the team on the right behaviors and execution
  • Understand sales goals and plans, and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department and store sales goals and guest engagement
  • Lead and share expertise in operations, freshness, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Establish clear goals and expectations, and hold team members accountable with guidance from your direct leader
  • Utilize workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload, ensuring areas are guest-ready at store open
  • Assign daily tasks based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, aligning with weekly and monthly business priorities
  • Assess GM backroom and sales floor areas, and review reporting to identify and resolve gaps
  • Enable a consistent experience for guests by ensuring product availability for purchase
  • Assist in leading and following up on organizational and operational changes
  • Build a team of GM Experts from initial selection through onboarding and learning, providing ongoing training and direction
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences
  • Model a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, and hold others accountable to these standards
  • Lead and demonstrate a safety culture by modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, and reporting/investigating injuries
  • Support merchandise protection strategies across the store, including ordering, storage, and application as directed by best practices
  • Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities to enable the guest experience during assigned shifts
  • Address all store and offsite emergency and compliance needs
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick-up (OPU), and Drive-Up (DU), maintaining a compliance culture
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Age 18 or older
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable
  • Learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
  • Effective communication skills
  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
  • Interpret instructions, reports, and information
  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
  • Climb up and down ladders as needed
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting and carrying up to 44 pounds throughout the duration of a shift without assistance
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays); reliable and prompt attendance necessary
  • Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing job duties
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift
