About the role

The Inbound Operations Team Leader leads the inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team also leads Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food safe experience, and enables efficient delivery to guests by owning pick, pack and ship fulfillment work. The Inbound team are experts at unloading trailer deliveries and preparing merchandise to be stocked on the sales floor.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target's guest experience commitments and consistent operations
  • Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments
  • Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align team on the right behaviors and execution, celebrate wins, drive results that deliver outcomes and elevate the guest experience
  • Understand sales goals and plans, and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver department and store sales goals and guest engagement
  • Lead and share expertise in operations, freshness, accuracy and efficiency
  • With guidance from your direct leader, establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to expectations
  • With the guidance of your direct leader, utilize workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload ensuring areas are guest ready at store open
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, ensuring alignment with weekly and monthly business priorities set by your direct leader
  • Assess all GM backroom, sales floor areas and review reporting to identify gaps and develop a plan to resolve any issues identified
  • Enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is available for purchase
  • Assist your direct leader in leading and following up on organizational and operational change
  • With guidance and assistance from your direct leader, build a team of GM Experts from initial selection through onboarding and learning. Develop team members through ongoing training and direction by giving direction and providing feedback when validating work completion
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; lead team to work in the same way and hold others accountable to this commitment
  • Lead and demonstrate a safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, holding team accountable to following safety expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting/investigating injuries timely and accurately
  • Model the execution of physical security processes in order to enhance the instore security culture
  • Support merchandise protection strategies across the total store, including ordering, storage and application as directed by best practices
  • If applicable, as a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes
  • Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities to enable the guest experience for the store during assigned shifts based on store needs
  • Address all store and offsite emergency and compliance needs
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws
  • All other duties based on business needs

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Age 18 or older
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required
  • Lead and hold others accountable
  • Learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
  • Effective communication skills

Skills

  • Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first culture on your team
  • Retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions strategies
  • Planning department(s) daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver sales goals
  • Leading a team of hourly team members, including skills in interviewing, developing, coaching, evaluating and retaining talent

Physical requirements

  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
  • Interpret instructions, reports and information
  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
  • Climb up and down ladders as needed
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting, carrying, and moving merchandise up to 44 pounds throughout the duration of a shift without additional assistance from others. This task involves repetitive bending, twisting, reaching, and rotating motions
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); reliable and prompt attendance necessary
  • Although the role is full-time, it does not come with a guarantee of 40 hours each week. Hours will depend on the needs of the business and may fluctuate as required
  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)

Pay

The starting pay range for this position per hour is $22.25 - $24.25. The full pay range for this position per hour is $22.25 - $37.80. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications.
