About the role

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking an Early Learning Teacher Assistant to join its team. The position works under the direction of the Center Director and Early Head Start Lead Teacher.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering a high-quality educational experience for children and families.
  • Implement the program based on goals and objectives, guided by YMCA, Bright from the Start licensing, and Quality Rated standards.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with early learning standards and incorporate educational experiences in various content areas.
  • Create activities that align with weekly studies and extend on students' interests and families’ knowledge.
  • Maintain compliance with the Y's Way to the Creative Curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Arrange the learning environment to support learning content areas and adhere to ITERS and ECERS criteria.
  • Design an environment that promotes healthy living and safety, preventing challenging behaviors and providing adequate supervision.
  • Follow health practices such as hand-washing, basic hygiene, and feeding/toileting routines.
  • Complete incident reports and follow protocol for reporting incidents to directors and families.
  • Maintain assessment records to meet GOLD guidelines and conduct Brigance screenings within given timelines.
  • Engage in family and volunteer engagement, becoming acquainted with families and encouraging their involvement in program activities.
  • Evaluate and improve performance based on ongoing reflection and feedback, developing a staff development plan.
  • Attend required training sessions and meet partnership training requirements.
  • Perform other duties related to the delivery of a quality program.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children younger than five in a state licensed center.
  • NAEYC or Quality Rated experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay

  • Early Learning Lead Teacher: Estimated $44,273 per year
  • Early Head Start Teacher: Estimated $50,101 per year
  • Preschool Teacher Assistant: Estimated $43,618 per year
  • Floater - Teacher: Estimated $43,812 per year
  • Pre-K Teacher Assistant: Estimated $44,643 per year
