Early Intervention Service Coordinator
About the role
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is a large agency responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians. The North Carolina Early Intervention Section (NC EIS) is part of the Division of Child and Family Well-Being and leads the North Carolina Infant-Toddler Program (NC ITP), providing supports and services for families and their children, birth to three, who have developmental delays and/or disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Working with families and team members to develop functional Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs).
- Working with multi-disciplinary teams to determine families’ needs for supports and services.
- Conducting home visits.
- Cooking and coordinating services, such as speech and physical therapy.
- Arranging and monitoring other early intervention services.
- Planning for transition to other services at age three.
Requirements
This position requires traveling in a six-county catchment area serving Carteret, Craven, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, and Pamlico Counties. The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree allowing certification as an Infant-Toddler-Family Specialist.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, or Early Childhood Education, Psychology from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of professional experience working with the population served;
- Bachelor’s degree in human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of professional experience working with the population served;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
- Experience working with children in the age range Birth to age 3 and their families, including children with developmental delays.
- Knowledge of young child development, including developmental milestones.
- Experience working with and collaborating with families and other professionals.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices used in working with young children and families, such as natural learning environment practices and caregiver coaching.
Pay
$37,377 - $65,408 Salary Grade Range
