Part-time position in our Fulton County, PA early intervention classroom.
Pay
Starting rate: $15.93–$16.93 per hour, based on education and experience.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Preferred experience in an early childhood setting or with a special-needs population
- Must obtain and maintain Highly Qualified Paraprofessional status in Pennsylvania
- Must complete annual Pennsylvania paraprofessional training hours
- Required clearances (upload with application):
- Act 24 Arrest and Conviction Report
- Act 34 Pennsylvania Criminal History Clearance
- Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
- Act 114 Federal Criminal History Clearance
- Reliable personal vehicle for travel to training sites and developmental activities
Responsibilities
- Support children with special needs in an inclusion-based classroom
- Assist the teacher in preparing, locating, copying, and creating instructional materials
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community partners
- Assist students with personal hygiene, health, and safety as needed
- Perform health procedures (medication administration, tube feeding, catheterizations, asthma treatments, etc.) after parent-provided training
- Use computers for email, calendars, word processing, and basic data applications
- Preview lesson plans and prepare supplies and materials in advance
- Lead small-group activities following teacher directions
- Adapt curriculum and routines to meet diverse learning styles and special needs
- Participate in training to increase skills and proficiency
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe classroom environment
- Implement student behavior management techniques
- Collect, compile, and organize assessment data for teacher review
- Perform clerical duties as assigned
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, or move up to 50 pounds of equipment/supplies
- Work outdoors in all seasons
- Maintain professionalism in attendance, punctuality, appearance, and dress code
- Perform other tasks consistent with the goals of the position as assigned by the teacher or Supervisor of Special Education
