About the Role
Teacher for Early Head Start is responsible for providing instructional experiences for preschool children to support adequate development in social, emotional, physical, and educational processes. The teacher will possess knowledge and understanding of early childhood development, develop appropriate goals and objectives, and collaborate with the Co-Teacher in planning.
Requirements
- Meet the State of Michigan Child Care Licensing Standards for a lead caregiver and Head Start requirements.
- Hold a Child Development Associates Credential with an Infant and Toddler Development Focus, awarded by the Council for Professional Development.
- Have 480 hours of childcare experience.
- Preferred: AA in Early Childhood Education or equivalent as defined by Head Start regulations.
- Pass pre-employment physical and TB test.
- Certified in Infant/Child and Adult CPR and Basic First Aid.
Responsibilities
Daily Activities
- Plan activities that support the progress of each individual child using the designated curriculum.
- Ensure room arrangement meets the developmental needs of all children.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary indoor and outdoor environment.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies.
- Plan outcomes, transitions in the classroom, and implement activities for the outdoor learning environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Family Partnership
- Plan and implement transitions from Early Head Start to Head Start or other settings.
- Work in partnership with families, the special education team, and management members in the development and implementation of the child's individual education plan.
- Actively communicate with families to ensure every child's success.
- Share screening and assessment results with families, staff, and partners.
- Confer with families and refer child and family concerns to appropriate partners and staff.
Pay
Salary range: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour.
Schedule
Full Time / Full Year / Non-Exempt.
