Job Summary

Head Start is a federally-funded, national child and family development program providing comprehensive services for pregnant women, children from birth to age five, and their families. Services for children promote school readiness through early education, health, nutrition, mental health, and services for children with special needs. Services for parents promote family engagement through parent leadership and social service supports.

About the Role

You will serve as co-teacher in an outcomes-oriented, team environment, providing safe, healthy, friendly, and developmentally appropriate environments and experiences for infants and toddlers. This position aims to improve the trajectory of children's lives, including their learning outcomes, living standards, and future academic and professional success.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related education field
  • Infant toddler specific education and experience meeting or exceeding the requirements for an Infant Toddler CDA Credential
  • Knowledge and experience in developmentally appropriate early childhood practice, child outcome assessment, child behavior management, and curriculum planning, development, and implementation
  • Commitment to social justice and working with families with limited financial resources
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (bilingual abilities a plus!)
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and access to reliable transportation
  • Physical ability to carry out required tasks

Qualifications

  • Experience with child outcome assessment
  • Experience with child behavior management
  • Experience with curriculum planning, development, and implementation

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (bilingual abilities a plus!)
  • Documentation and record-keeping skills

Pay

Starting 60 day probationary wage: $23.73-28.08 per hour and increases to $24.07-28.76 per hour after 60 day probationary period, depending on qualifications.

Schedule

40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year.
